| Step 0:
Using the Instructions for use of The Davidson Marking System® Dyes, apply dyes to mark tissue, if desired. Allow to dry as directed. |

| Step 1:
Place tissue specimen into Cryocup® and add OCT. Keep the level of OCT even with, but not above, the inner ledge of the Cryocup®. |

| Step 2:
Place chuck in Cryocup®. |

| Step 3:
Place Cryocup® into holder. Lower cover, making sure to center chuck stem in opening of cover. |

| Step 4:
Immerse the Cryocup® and holder in liquid nitrogen to freeze. Keep in liquid nitrogen long enough to ensure tissue and OCT are frozen (typically 20-40 seconds). |

| Step 5:
Remove from liquid nitrogen. wait 10-20 seconds. Warm slightly in hand, or tap Cryocup® on countertop to aid in freeing chuck. |

| Step 6:
Remove the chuck from the Cryocup®. The specimen is ready for the microtome. |
